Soap fans blast Corrie for ‘rehashing old scripts’

Kelly Neelan and Aadi Alahan made the decision to elope to the closest Scottish village after discovering their true feelings.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street viewers are convinced soap bosses are rehashing an old storyline from the nineties.

Gretna Green were the two magic words spoken by Kelly during Monday’s episode of the ITV show.

After getting to know one another and being willing to act like an engaged couple in an attempt to win a free holiday, the young couple became smitten with one another and decided to make their engagement official.

But the news didn’t go down well with Dev Alahan and Kelly’s guardians, Maria Connor and Gary Windass, when they found out.

As minors, Kelly and Aadi (played by Adam Hussain) need their permission to get hitched in England, prompting the wayward teens to look into other places where they can walk down the aisle without anybody’s approval.

This led her straight to Gretna Green in Scotland, where teens as young as 16 can get married without their parents’ consent.

Some viewers are fearing the worst for Kelly as actress Millie Gibson is known to have quit the Manchester-based drama.

“Didn’t Nick and Leanne run off to Gretna Green many years ago?”, one viewer asked on Facebook.

Another responded: “I remember Nick and Leanne eloping to Gretna Green and look how that turned out.”

“Yet another rehashed storyline Kelly and Aadi going to Gretna Green just like Nick and Leanne did years ago”, a third complained.
