MIKEY Lewis insists he will still talk a good game, even if he ruins boyhood favourites Hull FC’s derby day.

The Hull KR star was a Black and Whites fan as a kid, with an image of him in their shirt circulating on social media.

Listen to some fans and they would have him back across the city after they did not sign him from the City of Hull Academy side.

And any approaching him with respect will get the same back, even though he could inspire Red and White delight today (Fri).

Lewis said: “You get the odd fan but you’ve got to give them the time of day, even FC fans. It’s all right.

“If they’re all right with me, I’ll be all right with them. It doesn’t matter which team they support.

“They’re trying to speak with me about something they’re passionate about and it’s just getting to know new people. You’ve just got to keep humble.

“If they want to speak to me, I’m going to give them the time of day and speak to them and get to know them.

“And I’m just a normal lad from west Hull who’s just doing my job and living the dream.”

With a huge crowd expected at the MKM Stadium, passions are set to run high on and off the pitch.

But half back Lewis, 21, will stay as level headed as if it was a mundane match. If he does not, it could go pear shaped.

He added: “You do vibe off the atmosphere, if it’s exciting you get that real buzz but I’m not going to put pressure on myself or the team, I just do what I do.

“There’ll be times in a game when it doesn’t go as planned but you’ve got to keep your head in and focus on the next job.”
