A CURVY woman has educated viewers about her body type discovery, which has changed how she approaches dressing herself.
A self-described curvy woman took to TikTok to address why she used to hide her figure under baggy clothes before she discovered the Kibbe Body Types, a way of categorizing body shapes that can lead to more flattering fashion choices.
Fashion marketer and stylist Jacquie, known as jacquie.lm on TikTok, uploaded a video in which she shares how the newfound body type she identifies with has changed her sense of style and confidence level.
The Kibbe Body Type system is a body shape system that was developed by David Kibbe in the 1980s that focuses on five main categories: Dramatic, Classic, Natural, Gamine, and Romantic.
It evaluates the balance of your sharp, angular yang features, and soft, rounded yin features.
Jacquie identifies as a Romantic and uses that to help her dress for her personality, shape, and style.
The Kibbe Body Type test is incredibly detailed and takes a great deal of time to complete.
In the eight-second TikTok video, she briefly shows viewers glimpses of three distinct outfits that balance her yin and yang.
The video begins with an image of a woman wearing a baggy hunter green t-shirt and denim jeans with the subtitle, “How I dressed before I found my body type…”
The subtitle then changes to read, “How I dress now that I’ve discovered I’m a Romantic.”
The first look Jacquie shows viewers is a black see-through corset top with green vine details and black boning tucked into a pair of high-waisted pleated black pants.
The outfit is a stark difference from the oversized and baggy clothes she previously displayed.
She quickly switches into the next outfit, which is a form-fitting nude shirt that has a tiny V-shaped cutout along the bust with pants tucked into cream-colored high-waisted pleated pant
The outfit accentuates the shape of her bust and the curve of her hips in a very tasteful way.
The final outfit Jacque showcases to viewers is a Shop Look Sky Frills Tie Shoulder Plant Print Cami, $24.99.
As she moves through each Romantic outfit, her confidence and bodily awareness seems to shift and grow.
According to Kibbe, the Romantic type has the most feminine body shape with full breasts, narrow waist, rounded hips.
A famous example of a Romantic body type is Marilyn Monroe.
The comment section of the video exploded with questions about Kibbe body types, how to find their own and ways to style their shape.
“I feel like I can’t even figure out my body type because I see it so distorted from what it actually is,” one user commented.
“Ok so I’ve got a decent figure from the front but from the side I look like gru. What am I supposed to wear??” another asked.
